The firm behind the founder.

LS Law was founded in 2015 by a twenty-year in-house pharma GC. Today our consultants support legal, compliance and data governance teams at GSK, MSD, Novartis, Gilead and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

The challenges that inspired Life Science Law

As an in-house General Counsel for a leading life science company, LS Law founder Wendy Lloyd-Goodwin, experienced first-hand, the challenges facing legal teams. Accessing lawyers with the specialist life sciences expertise needed to navigate complex legal and regulatory matters quickly, or securing flexible, project-based or interim support as workloads increased, was often difficult or simply unavailable.

Speaking with other professionals in the industry, it was clear that these challenges were faced by many legal teams across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology.  There was a clear need to find experienced, commercially-minded legal experts who could plug into existing legal teams. As the life science sector seeks to reduce time to market with increased cost pressures, the need for expertise that can be flexed with business needs becomes ever more paramount.

Challenge 01

Finding Lawyers with Niche Industry Expertise

Obtaining legal professionals with the right, niche level of industry expertise can be difficult.

We connect organisations with specialist life sciences lawyers who understand the industry and its regulatory environment.

Challenge 02

Ability to Scale Legal Teams Quickly

In-house legal departments often struggle to respond when workloads suddenly increase.

We offer flexible legal support that can scale up or down depending on project demands and business priorities.

Challenge 03

Increased Pressure on In-House Legal Departments

Senior legal leaders often face major responsibilities without immediate access to additional expertise.

We support in-house teams with experienced legal and compliance experts who can step in when needed.

Challenge 04

Lack of Availability of Flexible Legal Support

Accessing immediate, ad-hoc additional support from lawyers and compliance professionals can be difficult to find.

We offer flexible consultancy services, giving organisations access to specialist legal expertise exactly when they need it.

Twenty years in-house. One firm built around what was missing.

After many years working with leading pharmaceutical companies, Wendy Lloyd-Goodwin founded Life Science Law in 2015 to address a gap she had experienced, providing organisations with quick access to lawyers with the specialist life sciences expertise needed to support changing business needs.

Over more than 20 years, Wendy has built and led in-house legal and compliance teams, developing a reputation for delivering proactive, business-focused legal support. Through this experience, she gained a deep understanding of what it takes to build an effective legal and compliance function.

Today, LS Law supports organisations across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, providing specialist legal and compliance expertise to help businesses navigate complex regulatory environments and achieve their strategic goals.

We are a values-led business

At the core of LS Law are the values that guide how we work and support our clients. They shape our decisions, influence our approach, and reflect our commitment to fostering a responsible and ethical environment within the life sciences industry.

People-Focused

Our people matter to us. We provide a psychologically safe environment which fosters collaborative ways of working, career development, flexibility, community and good remuneration.

Client Driven

We are unwavering in our mission to provide back-pocket support which enables our clients to meet their business goals, and shine during workload and resourcing challenges.

Efficient

We embrace the ever changing world around us by experimenting with innovative technological solutions, trialing new ways of working, and education which facilities efficiencies. This empowers our team to deliver excellence and helps our clients to achieve their goals.

Compassionate

Both internally and externally, through our ESG program, putting people and respect first, we strive to provide an environment with great governance which facilitates health and wellbeing in our people, our clients and the world in which we live.

Responsible by design.

"Responsibility is part of how we hire, how we deliver work, and how we treat the people we work."

ENVIRONMENT

As a primarily remote-working firm, our environmental footprint is structurally lower than most professional services firms. Where we travel or use resources, we do so deliberately — with measurement and offset for unavoidable client work.

PEOPLE & COMMUNITY

Our team is built across jurisdictions, career stages and routes into the industry. Flexible working is the default — not a benefit. We mentor early-career lawyers through the in-house pipeline and partner with industry bodies promoting diversity in life sciences law.

GOVERNANCE

We hold ourselves to the same governance standards we help our clients meet, clear authority, documented decisions, and a culture in which concerns can be raised and heard.

EcoVadis Certification

In 2024, our sustainability practices were independently rated by EcoVadis, the world's leading provider of business sustainability ratings, placing LS Law in the top 15% of companies assessed.

EcoVadis evaluates companies across the environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Their ratings are commonly required by major buyers as part of supplier qualification - and we sought the assessment to hold ourselves to the same standards we help our clients meet.
